Writers on trains

random composition of illustrations: coffee beans, paper coffee cup, vintage hands holding books, typewriter, train, letters and a woman wearing a bikini over a peach-coloured background.

There’s something poetic about trains. It’s not just me, right? Like, I think I get it now. The people watching. The changing scenes. The time. Evoking something of an old time movie cliché: writer, pipe and hat, newspaper and all. Black and white scenes? Am I thinking right? Yeah, maybe that’s it.

I used to think trains were a nerdy thing. And they are. But now that I have my macbook with me, and I’m typing away while people chat, conversations change, the rails rattle and the air fills up the cabin, I think I get why writers like trains. But maybe my favorite trains are…planes. Anyway, coffee for two, please. One for me, one for my macbook.

Think again, train coffee is probably the worst coffee in the world. Hold the coffee. I’ll stay with the sense of no-place-no-time travel limbo, minus the excitement of take-off and exotic destination.

This city rat is heading south for some well deserved basking in the sun. Well, you didn’t think I’d become a country mouse yet, did you? Find me with my latest bikini acquisitions, fresh mani, wwew! and a lot of TLC. — ugh that’s old school — it’s more like a prolonged #selfcaresunday. But hey, embrace it.

We’re on a vintage roll and trains are kind of like analog traveling, which reminds me — I’ve got some film to develop.
